Morison Masamoto Tanaka to Office of the Custodian, 06 September 1946
COPY FOR MR. SHEARS' COMPAINT FILE.
Sept. 6, 1946.
Office of the Custodian,
Vancouver, B.C.
Dear Sir:
I have just received the cheque of a sum of $174.00 on June 21, 1946. I was so busy until now I did not have time to answer your letter until today.
The sum of $174.00 I have received for the property is only 1/10 of what the property is just now.
I paid about $800.00 cash to buy that property and there is over 2 acres clear there is berry and fruit
trees.
I would like to know why the property owned by the Canadian Japanese was sold so cheap
to the Director of Veteran's
I cannot sell you the property for so low price that property is worth another $1000.00 more, therefore I cannot send you the Certificate of Title for the property until
I get a little more money for my land.
File No. 4845
Yours truly,
Reg. No. 13718

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
