W E Anderson to Mr. Morison Masamoto Tanaka, 13 September 1946
Copy for Mr. Shears' complaint file.
We have received your letter of the 6th September, in reply to our letter to you on the administration of your affairs.
While we appreciate that the liquidation of your assets was of personal concern to
you, this action was carried out under instructions received from the Canadian Government at Ottawa, and properties sold on the basis of appraised valuation at that time. This office
has no alternative in the matter, but your letter is being placed on record on your
file.

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
