Welling, Alberta Dec. 8th, 1946
Japanese Section,
Vancouver, B.C. Dear Sir:
I am returning you this cheque of $5.78 (five dollars & seventy-eight cents) which I received sometime ago. In your letter you stated that we will have nothing to do with you after we receive the cheque. However our sum of the house & kitchen utensils, beds, etc was more than $300.00. I cannot accept this cheque with a loss of more than $290.00
Yours truly, #08532

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
