COPY FOR Mr. Shears
Iron Springs, Alta.
August 4, 1947
Dear Sir:
Will you please look over my things that were left in Claxton Cannery, Skeena River, B.C. in one bunk house which was under the care of the Custodian. The things left:-
1 Double Bed & Spring | |
1 Crib & Mattress | |
1 Baby Chair | |
Amount of $50.00 | |
Fishing Utensils | 100.00 |
Fish Net | 75.00 |
Net Girdy | 35.00 |
Total Amt. $260.00 |
The only amount received from Custodian was $29.09.
If you would send me the left over I sure think it would help me out quite a lot as
our living on sugar beet working is very hard.
The amount that should be refunded is $260.00 - $29.09 = $230.91
Please write me about this matter. Hoping to get the amount as soon as possible,
File No. 640

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
