S Tateyama to Office of the Custodian of Enemy Property , 04 August 1947

August 4th,
In connection with this notice of the sale of my property, I wish to state that I have not been advised of the sale before as mentioned in this notice.
Since the sale of my property was made without my consent, and at such low price, I strongly protest against the action taken by the Custodian, however under the circumstances I think that I have not been given an opportunity to reverse the deal. But I wish to reserve my right of claim in connection with this deal until the end of the present war.

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
