Notes |
This transfer document is a bit confusing - it is a quit claim deed with two indentures.
The one included in this entry is dated 1946-06-28. The second is 1946-06-05. This
transaction, on both indentures, indicates that Chan Ming Ship, Chin Too Lung and
Chin Kee Thue were all trustees over the ownership of the 7/8 interest of Lot 29,
and that, in this transaction, Chan Ming Ship is quitting his Trusteeship, with Chin
Too Lung and Chin Kee Thue remaining as Trustees. The second indenture repeats this
language. However, it lists the 25 sellers entered in Title #525535L (please see for
exhaustive list) as Parties of the First Part and the above owners as Parties of the
Second Part. It essentially says that they are approving the quitting of trusteeship.
However, I don't think this indicates a transfer of the land.
In trust, filing nos. 39650 & 153691L

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
