Notes |
Title is for Lot 5 and the West 1/2 of Lot 6. Market value possibly 1/2 value, since
a market value of $4000 has been crossed out and replaced with $2000.
Transfer folio consists in two Indentures, both dated September 1939. The first is
between Floy Isabel Morris as Grantor and The Synod of the Diocese of New Westminster
as Grantee. The second is a Quit Claim Deed between Ellen Katharine Schetky (Executrix
under the Willl of George Littell Schetky) as "party of the first part" and The Synod
of the Diocese of New Westminster as "party of the second part". The Indenture explains
that George Littell Schetky held a Right to Purchase the property under an Agreement
for Sale dated April 1929. Ellen Katharine Schetky as Executrix has requested Floy
Isabel Morris to convey the property to The Synod, and is here quitting claim to any
interest in the land.
Transfer also contains extracts from the minutes of the Annual General Meetings of
the Provincial Board of Missions to Orientals in British Columbia between 1928 and
1930, concerning the activities and properties of the board.

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
