Scope and content |
This series comprises five files containing primarily news clippings collected by
Yasutaro Yamaga. Material pertains to the forced uprooting and dispossession of Japanese Canadians,
the perceived national security concerns of the Canadian government, religious matters, the passing of J.B. Shimek, a re-enactment of Madame Butterfly, labour issues and strikes, the deportation orders,
and charges of vandalism against Japanese Canadian–owned property. Some of the articles
were written by Yamaga. Several of the articles in the files are in Japanese. Also included is a file of
postcards collected by Yamaga.
