Dear Sir:-
In pursuance of phone conversation I wish to apply on behalf of myself and associates (6 or 8 men) all of whom are experienced Dogfish fishermen, for a Japanese packer boat, capacity of at least 15 tons, for use this spring (April-November) in connection with the fishing of dogfish.
We have 5 small boats owned personally but may also want to get 1 or 2 small boats (28’ or so) for use in dogfish fishing also.
Yours Truly
Geo. MacBean

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
