Chief Supervisor of Fisheries
Jan 14th 42, Box 319 Powell River B.C.
Dear Sir.
You will remember me calling to see you just before Christmas and asking about the Japanese fishing boats, and you told me at the time that nothing definite had been settled, and you advised me to write to you after the new year and you would give me what information you could. I have been watching the papers and I see that the Japanese fishing licenses have been suspended. The boat which I now own is too small for the grounds I intend trolling on this year. I wonder if you could give me any information as to the procedure of obtaining a larger Trolling Boat
Sincerely Yours
Harry W. Pickles

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
