Minister of Labour,
VICTORIA, B.C.
Dear Sir:
Having read of the seizure of the Jap fishing fleet and the need of white fishermen, wondered if you could give me any information regarding the fishing.
I am English descent, Canadian born, and have fished for twenty years on the Great Lakes, but would like to come to the Pacific Coast to make my home. So any information you can give me on who to or where to write on any thing concerning working conditions, wages, or turn this letter to somebody who would be interested, will be appreciated by me.
I am, Yours
Mr. Harry Butcher,
Pt.Burwell, Ont.
c/o Lake Side Hotel
P.S. There are half a dozen more who are interested.

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
