Scope and content
This item includes minutes of the War Committee of the Cabinet dated 12 January 1944, concerning the travel of people of Japanese descent in Canada. This meeting refers to the new draft of the Order governing the movement of people of Japanese descent in Canada. The Under-Secretary of State for External Affairs, in response, raised "the question of basing regulations of this character upon discrimination between citizens of different racial origins, and enquired as to the possibility of revising the Order so as to reduce such restrictions to the minimum necessary from the security point of view."
