Scope and content |
This series contains seven files pertaining to the Veterans' Land Act and the Department of Veterans Affairs and its Soldier Settlement and Veterans' Land Act branch. Included are documents and discussion regarding the following: payment for
Japanese Canadian farm properties from the VLA to the Secretary of State; legalities surrounding transfer of properties and collection of rents and fee payments;
leases and appraisal reports; the Soldier Settlement Board dealing with lands of three Japanese Canadian veterans that were uprooted from the
coast; receipts for certificates of title and rents; expenditures for the purchase
of seized Japanese Canadian property; and lists of Japanese Canadian rural property
owners and the prices at which their properties were forcibly sold; among other topics.
