Scope and content
This contact sheet consists of twelve images that has been cut out from another contact sheet.
Going from left to right on the top row; the first image shows a car stopped in the middle of a road. The following three images are upside down. The second image shows a large number of people standing outside a train and waiting. The third image shows some people waving to the passengers on the train. The fourth and final image on this row shows a group of people standing in front of a train.
Going from left to right on the bottom row; the first image shows a woman and two children standing on a float in the foreground with the Union Jack behind them. The second image shows a large number of people standing in the streets and observing the festivities. There are also three horses and two people dressed up in a costume in the image. The third image shows some decorated cars traveling in procession and people observing this event. The words "GREENWOOD LABOR DAY-1943" can also be found on the image. The fourth image shows nine women holding infants and standing in front of a building. The fifth image shows some train tracks.

Name of creator
John Mark Read was born on June 8, 1945 in Kelowna, British Columbia. He graduated (from Delbrook Senior Secondary School?) and continued with his education by studying Geography at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He graduated from UBC in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts. John went on to pursue a Master of Arts in the Department of Geography at UBC. He submitted his thesis, "The Pre-War Japanese Canadians of Maple Ridge: Landownership and the Ken Tie," in 1975. While pursuing his Masters, John married his wife, Karen Kiyiomi Mizuno, on July 14, 1973. John went on to work as H.Y. Louie for thirty years and retired in 2005.
