Scope and content
An image of a woman, Hatsuye Yamake, standing behind a counter of a confectionary; Kasuga Kashiten. The confectionary shows three display cases filled with pastries and candies. Two of the walls contain shelves with lined up with tins and jars. In the center of the photo is a doorway leading to a backroom. On the wall hangs a large Yama Taxi poster.
Name of creator
Junzo Yamake came to Canada from Ubikiyama, Shiga Ken at the age of twenty five. He apprenticed as a baker under Mr. Hayashi until he could open his own shop in 1927. He married Hatsuye Nishimura in 1928 and began a family.
