Scope and content |
This is a visitor book for Sadaji Tonomura’s funeral, held on 4 August 1929. He was
96 years old. This was folded inside item 1995.125.2.7.1. The book contains record
of the duties of each person during the funeral (pages 1-2), of the meal plan and
ceremonial procedure (pages 3-4), and a list of guests names and gifts (pages 5-10).
On the front cover,the name “Makoto Sawa” is written in large, with Sadaji Tonomura
written in smaller writing in the bottom corner. It is possible that the family followed
the tradition of changing an individual’s name after their passing.
