Scope and content
This is a visitor book for Kuni Tonomura’s funeral, held May 6, 1959. She was 89 years old. The book contains record of the guest names and gifts (pages 1-12), of the meal plan (page 13), and of the first seven day ceremony (a week after the funeral, shonanoka) (page 14). On the front cover,the name “Kaori Murakata” is written in large and Kuni Tonomura is written in smaller calligraphy in the bottom corner. It is possible that the family followed the tradition of changing an individual’s name after their passing.
