Dear Sir:
Re: Catalogue No. 310
1672 West 2nd Ave.
6/229/526
We are in receipt of your letter of December 16th. This has been carefully read and we can appreciate that the disposal of your property
is a matter of great personal concern to you. However, the sale of all Japanese owned
properties is being carried out as a part of the policy of liquidation outlined by
the Canadian Government on the basis of independent appraised values, and we can only advise that we are
unable to consider any alternative.
While we regret that you are not in accord with the Custodian's action, completion
of this sale is being made irrespective of production of the Certificate of Title.
The Custodian, however, finds its production helpful in making distribution of the
proceeds of the sale to the rightful persons.
If you now feel that you are to co-operate in this matter we would be glad to receive
the Certificate of Title as previously requested. In any event, your letter is being
placed on our files so that your comments in regard to this sale with remain on record.

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
