George Carpenter is acting as administrator of the Estate of Paul Albert Carpenter,
deceased, filing 47705.
The market value is listed as $1000 but it is unclear whether this is for the one
half interest or the value of the whole property.
This transaction seems really confusing because the undivided interest for this and
the sister title, 211466L, don't add up to one whole. Here is what the title searcher
thinks the probably explanation is:
106152L:
Paul Carpenter and Sarah Carpenter owned the property together.
At some point before the next titles, both Paul and Sarah passed away in short succession.
211465L:
George Carpenter owns 1/2 interest in the property as the administrator of the estate
of Paul Carpenter.
211466L:
On the transfer document, George Carpenter is transferring 1/6 interest in the property
from himself as the administrator of the estate of Paul Carpenter, to himself as the
administrator of the will of Sarah Carpenter. Thus, the title document lists George
Carpenter administrator of the estate of Sarah Carpenter as having 2/3 interest (she
already had 1/2 interest, and on the transfer document, received another 1/6 interest
from the estate of Paul Carpenter). This would have left the estate of Paul Carpenter
with 1/3 interest, making it clear that the interest between 211465L and 211466L does
add up to one whole, but it is not clear what purpose this served.
211720L:
George Carpenter consolidates all interest in the property as the administrator of
both Paul and Sarah Carpenter, and sells it to a third party.
No other documents.

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment

choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
