DescAn association formed to develop an exhibition in Vancouver, British Columbia. The V.E.A. settled on and developed Hastings Park for the exhibition, and the first Vancouver Exhibition opened on 15 August 1910. Exhibition buildings and stables at the Hastings Park site were used to detain Japanese Canadians in early 1942. Name changes later to the Pacific National Exhibition or the P.N.E.

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession.
