Department of Fisheries
Vancouver, B. C.
Dear Sirs,
Would you kindly inform me if chances are good to go fishing off the west coast or around Vancouver. I am very interested in going fishing along the coast which I have wanted to do for quite awhile which will be much better than fresh-water fishing inland as I have been doing.
How will a person be able to get a good fishing boat and equipment quite reasonably and where. Is a person able to get a boat from the government which were confiscated from the Japanese fishermen not long ago. Can one either buy or rent one of these boats on some kind of terms.
I am very interested, so would you please send me full details and particulars concerning this matter.
Hoping to Hear from you soon.
I remain yours Sincerely,
Mr. Carl Modin.

Terminology

Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice. See our statement on terminology, and related sources here.
