Re Seized Japanese Fishing Boats
I am interested in coming to Vancouver for the purpose of taking over a boat purpose
or taking over a boat and entering the fishing business. No doubt these boats vary
in size but I would be interested in one of the smaller ones. Would it be possible
for you to inform me how the prices range and on what terms sales are made.
Does the full fishing equipment go with the boat?
What crew and sailing qualifications are necessary?
Is there any provision made for return or boat to present owner after the war is over
or is the sale unconditional in that respect?
Any information you may kindly supply regarding, duration of fishing season in the
Pacific coastal waters, docking facilities cost etc, would be very helpful and greatly
appreciated.
Yours truly
A.C. Ross

Terminology
Readers of these historical materials will encounter derogatory references to Japanese
Canadians and euphemisms used to obscure the intent and impacts of the internment
and dispossession. While these are important realities of the history, the Landscapes
of Injustice Research Collective urges users to carefully consider their own terminological
choices in writing and speaking about this topic today as we confront past injustice.
