This file consists of a Department of Labour file which contains documents pertaining to insufficiencies in the Canadian government's
financial assistance offered to relocated Japanese Canadians. These documents include
letters written by Japanese Canadians expressing their concerns to Department of Labour officials, responses to these concerns from Department of Labour officials, correspondence between other government officials and MPs discussing the
matter, a report from the Royal Commission appointed to Order-in-Council P.C. 9498
inquiring into the welfare of Japanese Canadians in settlements in BC, and petitions requesting improved government assistance for Japanese Canadians written
by various organizations.
