This file consists of claims, dated from 1946 to 1947, filed by Canadians of Japanese descent to the Department of Labour documenting economic losses caused by resettlement and the forced sale of their property. These claims include completed standardized forms with dollar values. "Evacuees" contain both Japanese Canadians resettled in Canada and those who "voluntary repatriated" to Japan. This file also includes correspondence from members of the Department of Labour alluding to the problems caused by dealing with such claims and a report prepared by Virtue & Russell (Barristers) entitled "Summary of Facts for Secretary of State re: Canadians of Japanese Origin."
