Scope and content |
This file includes memoranda and correspondence regarding "Japanese in Canada" from
1945. Matters discussed include the deportation of "undesirables," the establishment
of a Loyalty Commission, questions of citizenship and nationality (as they pertain
to the deportation), draft deportation orders (PC 1945-7355, 1945-7356, 1945-7357),
and draft statements on the deportation (and determining loyalty) by the minister.
Much of the correspondence is with Unites States authorities and considers the logistics of carrying out the deportation orders (e.g.,
transportation of persons, restrictions upon "repatriates").
