Scope and content
This file contains minutes, memoranda, and correspondence of the Cabinet Committee on Japanese Problems from 1947 to 1949. Included are materials relating to the extension of Orders-in-Council relating to Japanese persons (i.e., PC 946, PC 1945-7355, PC 1942-1665, PC 1943-469, PC 1942-10773, and PC 1942-251), the deportation (and the cease of these orders in January 1947), the requests to return of several Japanese Canadian "repatriates," and the establishment of the Bird Commission. Several documents outline the development of the terms of reference for the Commission, specifying how and when value would be determined (i.e., at time of evaluation versus at time of sale).
