This file contains minutes, memoranda, and correspondence of the Cabinet Committee on Japanese Problems from 1947 to 1949. Included are materials including or relating to the extension of Orders-in-Council relating to Japanese persons (i.e., PC 1943-946, PC 1945-7355, PC 1942-1665, PC 1943-469, and PC 1942-251), correspondence from F.P. Varcoe (inquiring on government policy regarding the types of claims that would be admitted in the commission to investigate claims, i.e., Bird Commission), the schedule outlining the types of claims submitted by Japanese Canadians, correspondence discussing the complexity of losses (e.g., beyond property, economic) as well as discussion on fishing vessels and licenses belonging to persons of Japanese ancestry and Japanese Canadian re-settlement.
