Scope and content |
This file contains the minutes, memoranda, and correspondence of the Cabinet Committee on Japanese Problems in 1946. Included are materials relating to "future Japanese policy": "repatriation"
(deportation) and re-settlement; the issue of "loyalty"; Orders-in-Council relating
to Japanese Canadians; and property (e.g., a reprint of the United States H.R. 6780 Bill and report that created the Evacuation Claims Commission which the
Bird Commission appears to be modelled after). Reference documents on the relocation and repatriation
policies are also included as well as discussions on the validity of the deportation
orders (PC 1945-7355, 1945-7356, 1945-7357 and PC 1942-10773).
