Scope and content |
This file consists of Volume No. 4 of a Department of Labour file titled "Future Japanese Policy - Cabinet Level." It contains correspondence,
memoranda and minutes from 1947 to 1949 concerning the extensions of Orders-in-Council
relating to Japanese nationals and Japanese Canadians into 1949 under the Transitional
Measures Act. Topics include the transition of responsibility from federal to provincial
governments, financial assistance to Japanese "repatriates," and the revocation of
many of the Orders-in-Council. Also included is discourse surrounding Japanese property
claims and the activities of the University of Toronto Liberal Association in defense of Japanese Canadian rights.
