Scope and content |
This file includes drafts of the Japanese Repatriation and Resettlement Bills of 1946,
as well as significant correspondence of government officials regarding these drafts.
These bills and Orders-in-Council (P.C. 7355, 7356, 7357) are heavily discussed among
Department of Labour officials, with particular concern given to the legality of the orders. Discussions
of the possibility of the orders "raising debate" are included, and particular fears
of Japanese Canadians returning to British Columbia 'en bloc' are also expressed.
