Scope and content
This is a white envelope containing several letters sent from M. Tonomura (Shigaken, Japan) to Eiji Tonomura (Vancouver, BC). The envelope contains several postage stamps and some writing in Japanese. The first letter an airmail letter written from M. Tonomura (Shiga ken, Japan) to Eiji Tonomura (Vancouver, CAN). The paper is blue with maroon detailing. The envelope with Japanese and French text. The French text reads: “Aerogramme” and “Par avion”. The letter component of the envelope is written in Japanese. On both sides of the pages, whatever empty space is filled with text. The second item inside is a receipt for a cheque, dated July 25, 1956. It appears to be for accommodation (“Room No. 10”) from June 26 to July 25, 1956. The total amount was twenty five dollars. The cheque was received from John Tonomura and signed to Lum Sun. The third item is an airmail letter written from M. Tonomura (Shiga ken, Japan) to Eiji Tonomura (Vancouver, CAN). The paper is blue with maroon detailing. The envelope with Japanese and French text. The French text reads: “Aerogramme” and “Par avion”. The letter component of the envelope is written in Japanese. On both sides of the pages, whatever empty space is filled with text. The fourth item is a mint green envelope with red and blue detailing mailed from M. Tonomura to Eiji Tonomura. There are two stamps and the French text “Par Avion” on the envelope, in addition to some Japanese writing. The fifth item is a four page letter written in Japanese. The final page is cut in half, lengthwise.
