Scope and content |
A notice, titled “Department of Labour Notice to All Persons of Japanese Racial Origin
Having Reference to Making Application for Voluntary Repatriation to Japan,” dated
February 13, 1945, written by Humphrey Mitchell, Minister of Labour and signed by
T.B. Pickersgill, Commissioner of Japanese Placement. The notice instructs all persons
of Japanese ancestry living in Canada and desiring to return to Japan that the proceeds
from the sale of their property will be secured and returned to them in Japan, and
that the Canadian Government will provide them with free passage to Japan, along with
their personal belongings.
