| Scope and content |
A letter dated January 9, 1946,
from Reginald Symes, of Robertson, Douglas & Symes, Barristers and
Solicitors, to Jisaburo (Jack) Wakabayashi, Tashme, B.C. The letter states
that the lawyers have reviewed Wakabayashi’s earlier communications, and
states that it believes that even though the Dominion Government has the
power to deport aliens from Canadian soil, it would not do so in the face of
legal proceedings. It states that for now, Wakabayashi’s letter to the
government cancelling his return to Japan is all that he can do to avoid
deportation and remain in Canada. |
